Infection outfection

They prepared things

carefully

three rooms each end

having a full handbasin

a bar of soap

a shower waiting

a third room

each took a deep breath

held

then paced

softly slowly

to the meeting point

A final look

eyes meeting

perhaps a smile before

bodies meeting

touching

breath apart running hands

down backs

feeling

presence in one place

for a little while

no passion chanced but

tighter

than ever

untouching

untouched

carrying only a sustaining

momentary remembrance

of communion back

to their rooms

To wash hands

soaped in water prepared

then showering

washing all contact away

alone
